What's new in Tinget

Easier pictures

The plus button is how you add a picture, a GIF, or a file. The send button only shows up when you have something to send.

• BETTERInvite links now look like tingetapp.download.
• FIXEDSearching for GIFs is smoother. The keyboard no longer jumps in the way.

Pictures, GIFs, and your photo

You can send pictures and moving GIFs in the chat, and put a photo on your name.

• NEWCopy a picture from anywhere on your phone and paste it into the chat.
• NEWTap plus to pick photos, take a new one, find a GIF, or add a file. You can pick a few, then send them together.
• NEWSearch for GIFs without leaving Tinget.
• BETTERGIFs from your photos keep moving. They used to freeze on the first frame.
• NEWTap a picture to make it big. Pinch to zoom in.
• NEWAdd your own photo in Settings. Friends see it next to your messages.
• FIXEDIf a picture fails to send, try again. You will not get two copies.

This update needs a new install of the app. A normal update is not enough.

Names, not codes

• FIXEDWhen you tag a friend or a hangout, you see the name — not a secret code.

Clearer tabs

• FIXEDThe icon at the bottom fills in for the page you are on, so you can tell where you are.

Tappable links

• NEWTap a link in chat and it opens in the browser. Links on your gold bubbles stay easy to read.
• FIXEDWhen you leave Account, you go back to the page you came from — not always to Chat.

The next hangout, Settings, and dark mode

• NEWTap the card at the top of chat to open the next hangout and say if you are coming.
• NEWMe is now called Settings. Your things and the group's things live in different spots.
• NEWThe app can go dark. It follows your phone, or you can pick and it stays there.
• BETTERPicking a day and time uses the same calendar as the rest of your phone. You cannot make a hangout in the past.
• FIXEDYou can always close the keyboard: tap outside, swipe down, or tap Done.

Smileys on messages, and tags

• NEWHold a message to add a reaction, like a smiley. Tap it again to take it off.
• NEWType @ to tag a friend. Type # to tag a hangout. Tap the tag to jump there.
• NEWYou can delete your account in Settings.
• NEWOn Android you can sign in with Google, and reminders still arrive.
